Never Goodbye

Never Goodbye

Should “Goodbye” and “Farewell”
Have not much in common
Then do I wish to bid
Farewell to you, my dear

There seem to hang some clouds
Over the wish “Goodbye”
That sit not well with me
It sounds much too final

So I’ll say, “Farewell,”
And mean that you should fare well
Then say, “Goodbye,” to those
I pray should sleep for good

I hope I’ll never see the day
I’ll say, “Goodbye,” to you
